Carolyn Watson Hines, 90, of Greensboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Our Lady of the Valley Senior Living Community in Roanoke, Virginia. She will be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was married to James Emmett Hines, Sr., who died in 1985. She was the daughter of John C. and Louise Watson and the sister of John (Jack) C. Watson, Jr. and grandmother to Ashley Nicole Hines-all who preceded her in death.
Carolyn was a graduate of St. Mary’s College, Raleigh, N.C. and also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (then Women’s College).
Carolyn retired in January 2000 from Graham and Associates where she was a Personnel Consultant for 25 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church,
N. Elm Street, Greensboro, N.C.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons-James Emmett Hines, Jr. (Lisa), Stewart Martin Hines (Christina), step-daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Hines Wolfe (Mike); grandchildren, Sarah Nicole Hines (Jeff), Lauren Anne Hines, Jennifer Leigh Hines, and James Emmett Hines III; great-grandchild, Gene Emmett Creviston. She is also survived by niece, Lisa Watson and nephews, John C. Watson III (Laurie) and William (Wes) Watson (Lynne).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, N. Elm Street, Greensboro, N.C. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. A committal service will held immediately following the service at Alamance Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
