Carl Dwight Pepper

Carl Dwight Pepper born October 23, 1932, died peacefully on October 7th at home as were his wishes after a two and a half year battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Martin Pepper, his mother Marian Pullen Pepper; brother John, and three sisters, Carolyn, Clara Jean, and Nancy. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Annette Griffith Pepper and his children, Martin (Julie), Steven (Lisa) and Kathryn (Jim). He leaves behind seven grandchildren and one and a half great grandchildren.

His professional life was spent at Goodyear Tire from which he retired in 1992 to live in Akron, Ohio, Sun City West, Arizona, Carolina Lakes, South Carolina and finally Jamestown, North Carolina. His career with Goodyear spanned jobs in Jackson, Michigan where he was born, to Valencia, Venezuela in 1962 and later Sao Paula, Brazil where he was the senior executive for the company. He was most proud of his achievement of overseeing the construction of a new factory at Americana, Brazil where he was honored by the city which named a street and a sports complex after him. He served in the US Navy Reserves.

Carl loved making new friends wherever he travelled and was always surrounded by loving family and friends. His greatest pleasures were following U of Michigan Football, golfing and Planning Biannual reunions for his ever expanding family. He was a devoted member of Adams Farm Community Church where he dedicated himself to the congregation and the work of the church.

In lieu of flowers Carl and family would suggest donations to Hazelden Institute and Adams Farm Community Church Benevolence Fund. The family plans a celebration of Carl’s life at Adams Farm Community Church on Saturday, October 13th, 10:00 a.m. The family invites everyone to share this time with them.
