Brenda (Sue) Kirkman Pine passed away on December 5, 2023 after a long and courageous fight with Dementia at the age of 80. Sue was best known for her loving personality, her artistic abilities and most of all for the love of her husband, children and grandchildren.
Sue was born on August 9, 1943 in Greensboro, North Carolina to John Arnold and Molene Kirkman, both deceased. Sue is survived by her husband of 63 years, Keefer M. Pine, her daughters Kimberly Pine Robinson (Eric) and Karen Pine Thompson (Jimmy). She is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Ashley Robinson (Taylor), Brandon Thompson, Ryan Thompson (Monica) and Logan Robinson and by three great grandchildren, Owen, Price and Davis. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Gayle Greene (Mickey) and two brothers, Charles Kirkman (Judy) and Sam Kirkman.
Sue was a graduate of Pleasant Garden High School and married her soul mate and high school sweetheart at the age of 18. She worked at Sears in her younger years before leaving to raise her two daughter’s full time. When they were older, she worked several years as a full time Bookkeeper. What a wonderful mother and grandmother she was! Known best for her flair to decorate, love of antiques, lover of crafts and an amazing artist. Her love for all of her grandchildren will be forever carved into each of their hearts as she appreciated each of them for their uniqueness and special talents. She was supportive and loving to them all. Sue also loved to travel. Her and her husband, Keefer, traveled all over the U.S. and several Caribbean islands over the span of 20 plus years. She also enjoyed trips with her daughters as well, whether it be a weekend trip or a day trip. She was always up for it!
Sue will be greatly missed on this earth. Through this entire journey, she never complained. Her biggest fear that she expressed early on with dementia was being a burden to others. She was always putting others first. Sue taught many of us a lot of things. She taught us how to take something small and make it into something beautiful, to appreciate each other for who we are, to love one another, to take pride in the things that we do and most importantly make the best of what we’ve been given. For those lessons we will all be forever grateful.
A private graveside service will be held at Guilford Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Sue’s memory to Hospice of Burlington at www.authoracare.org/give or call: 336-360-6668
