A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at Cornerstone Baptist Church located at 5736 Inman Road in Greensboro, following a private burial service.
She was the retired owner of Winfree Discount Tire Company, an active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and had formerly served on the Board and later as an Advisor with the Christian Women’s Club.
Mrs. Winfree graduated from Summerfield High School and was particularly proud of her involvement, along with other Summerfield High alumni, in getting the Summerfield Stone Gym recorded on the National Historic Registry.
She lived her life devoted to her family and relished every minute she could spend with them. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew C. Winfree, her son Andrew Charles Winfree, Jr., and brother, Charles Westmoreland. Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her guiding principles are her children: LuAnne Winfree Deaton and her husband Bobby of Seagrove, Terrye Winfree Hartnett and her husband Mike of Charlotte, Dean Winfree and his wife Tammy of Greensboro; grandchildren: Drew Deaton and his wife Elizabeth of Seagrove, Katie Deaton Briles and her husband Deric of Asheboro, Will Berry and his wife Elana of Greensboro, Elizabeth Hartnett of Charlotte, Andrea Winfree of Greenville, Samantha Winfree of Greensboro and Deana Winfree of Greensboro; great-grandchild: James Anderson “Branch” Deaton of Seagrove; and sister-in-law, Barbara Westmoreland.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gustav Magrinat and his exceptional team at the Cone Health Cancer Center, along with the dedicated care givers with Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.
