Betty Anne Brown Smith, 86, a resident of Jamestown, passed away on Friday November 20, 2015. She was born April 17, 1929 in High Point, the daughter of Homer Clark Brown and Nettie Lee Carroll Brown.
Betty was a graduate of High Point High School. Her love and joy was being surrounded by her family.
She was a longtime member of Guilford Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. She was active in her church, serving on the Benevolence and Counting committees.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nancy Jane Brown; and two brothers, H.C. “Buck” Brown and William “Bill” Brown.
On June 5, 1948 Betty was married to William Lee Smith who survives, of the home. Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Rebecca Ann Smith of LaGrange, NC; two sons, Don Smith and wife Nydia of Raleigh, Ed Smith and wife Patti of Brown Summit; one sister, Joyce B. Tickle and husband Don of Southern Pines; one brother, Richard Brown of High Point; five grandchildren, Aimee Henderson and husband Brian, Martin Smith and wife Alyson, Samantha Fernandez Keys and husband Aaron, Gretchen Garrett and husband Jason, Chris Fernandez and three great grandchildren, Pace Henderson, Ella Jane Henderson and Caroline Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Brady Huneycutt. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Following the service, the family will have a reception and continue to receive friends at the funeral home.
