Betty (Poole) Peterson

Betty (Poole) Peterson, 86, a resident of Randleman passed away at her home on Sunday August 2, 2020. She was born October 27, 1933 in Moore County, the daughter of Herbert and Rosa Russell Kennedy.

Betty graduated Salutatorian from Farm Life High School, Carthage in 1952. She devoted her high school years as a star basketball player and proudly represented her school and community as Miss Farm Life. Betty’s love for shopping kept her busy. Her passion for baking will remain a sweet memory for so many that appreciated a homemade dessert. Family was priority. Her most memorable and treasured life events were created with her children and grandkids. Betty was employed for 25 years with Guilford Mills, Inc where she was Lamination office manager and known as Momma Betty to everyone.

Betty was married to Jack Peterson who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lisa Poole; sisters, Nellie Barber, Doris Carroll, Esther Danley and brothers, Marvin Kennedy and Rufus Kennedy.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy McCoy (Charles) of Randleman, NC sons, Ronald Poole (Debbie), Greg Poole (Holly), Barry Poole (Amy) all of Cheraw, SC. Grandchildren; Brittany Martin (Honda), Brad McCoy (Cody), Bryson Curl of Randleman, NC, Andy Poole (Anna), Chloe Poole (Rob) of Cheraw, SC, Ryan Poole (Melanie) of Denver, Co, Eric Poole of Columbia, SC and great grandchildren; Crawford Poole, Colton Curl, Daxton Martin, Reed McCoy, Tatum Cribb and spoiled fur baby Marla.

A Memorial Service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Wayne Summers. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Betty’s memory to the Level Cross Ball Association, c/o H. Martin 1924 Acorn Drive, Randleman, NC 27317.
