Betty Lucille Nabors Rayle, 90, died November 10, 2018, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be at 1 PM Wednesday, November 14 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Michael Long. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, November 13 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm chapel.
Betty was a life- long resident of Guilford County and was the only daughter of four children of Clarence H. and Georgia Robbins Nabors. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High School. Betty enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 38 years to Roy W. “Pete” Rayle until his death in 1985. Together they successfully operated a motel after which she was employed as a switchboard operator at Moses Cone Hospital for more than twenty years. After retirement, she was asked to return on a part time basis until the early nineties.
Betty had a creative spirit and loved flower arrangement, ceramics and cross stitch. She kept a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Jennifer, the first girl in the family since Betty. Her family and her faith were essential to her daily life and she worshipped for many years at Martin Avenue Baptist Church. Betty’s tender heart for others was demonstrated as she comforted and cared for her parents until their passings. In addition to her parents and spouse she is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Nabors.
Betty will be missed and her memory cherished by her son, Richard “Rick” Rayle, granddaughter, Jennifer Rayle; brothers, Jimmy W. (Georgia) Nabors and C.L. (Lenore) Nabors all of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Betty’s family extends their deepest gratitude to Betty’s niece, Diane Tilley, for her tender care of Betty over the last two years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Martin Avenue Baptist Church, 3711 Martin Avenue
