A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church, 5929 Coble Church Road, Liberty, with Pastors Keith Newell and David Neff officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Betty was born December 30, 1927, in Guilford County, NC, daughter of the late James Branson and Minnie Holt Greeson. She retired from Western Electric where she was a star player on the softball and basketball teams. She was a long time member of Pleasant Union United Methodist Church where she was very involved with many activities. Betty was very active with the Julian Lion’s Club, helping with fundraisers and attending many events. She enjoyed watching all sports, even up to the wee hours in the morning.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keck was preceded in death by her six siblings. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Lee Roy Keck; children, Mickey Keck (Jean), Judy Shoffner (Tim), Mark Keck (Judy) all of Julian; sister, Hilda Humble (Clifton) of Liberty; sisters-in-law, Ruby Greeson, Ann Butler both of Julian, Mary Lou Hanner of Wingate; grandchildren; Brian Keck (Lisa), Barry Keck, Neil Shoffner (Jennifer), Daniel Shoffner (Courtney), Joi Keck, Jodi Heidrick (Adam) and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall.
