Funeral services celebrating Betsy’s life will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2023 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro, with Pastor Kirk LeJeune officiating. Betsy will be entombed in the Sedgefield Mausoleum at Guilford Memorial Park following the funeral. The family will receive friends and loved ones, one hour prior to the funeral from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack Chatham; and many nieces and nephews.
Betsy was born in Surry County on November 16, 1933 to the late Hubert and Maggie Ring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters.
After graduating from Bessemer High School; Betsy began her 44 year career with Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Co. She loved caring for and spending time with her family and friends. She and her sisters spent many weekends together at High Rock Lake. Betsy enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Biloxi, Mississippi where she and Jack first met. Betsy and Jack loved their Boston Terriers, (Tiger, Mandy, and Misti) along with the squirrels and chipmunks that would knock on their door for a peanut. As a long-time member of Pleasant Garden Methodist Church, Betsy volunteered weekly in the Food Outreach Center.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Well Spring and AuthoraCare Collective for their support in caring for Betsy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to AuthoraCare Collective of Greensboro in Betsy's memory.
