Elizabeth "Beth" Grissom Bussey, 88 passed away on Monday, March 3 at Moses Cone Hospital with her husband Jack by her side. A native of Vance County, she was born February 6, 1926 to Charlie and Effie Grissom. After graduating from college, she began working as a teacher and married John "Jack" Bussey, her husband of 61 years. A majority of her teaching career was. within the Greensboro school system, where she taught at Irving Park and Hunter Elementary schools. She enjoyed working with children and in her free time, she loved working on her flower gardens and taking road trips with Jack to the mountains and local farmers markets.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Bussey, her sister Edith G. Sheldon of Raleigh, and Rachel Grissom of Durham, brother-in-law Randall A. McLeod of Durham, her son John C. Bussey Jr. and fiancé Marcia Cote of Fairfield CT, grandson Dr. Brian Bussey of Cincinnati OH, grandson Adam Bussey, wife Jen Bussey and great grandson Joseph Bussey of Baltimore, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was so proud of their two grandsons that it inspired their license plate tag "2Busseys".
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 AM at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm Street with the Reverend Don Clement officiating.Please note that if you wish to send flowers to the service, the family has made arrangements to honor Beth's memory and her love of flowers by donating the flowers to a local hospice unit so others may enjoy their beauty.
