A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, Lakeview Memorial Park, in the Mausoleum Chapel, 3600 North O’Henry Boulevard. Officiating will be Reverend Gene Dean.
Tommy was born June 4, 1935, in Richmond, VA, son of the late Arthur and Irma Thomas. He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School; known now as Grimsley High School. A veteran of the United States Army; he served 14 years with two tours in Vietnam.
Throughout the years, Tommy was employed by Duke Power, Talley Machinery and NS Farrington. He retired as an electrical contractor in 1997. He was a long time member of Reidsville Baptist church, where he served as a Deacon. Some of his hobbies included gardening, fishing and when the season was in, watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife; who passed in 2011, Helen L. Thomas. He is survived by his children, Tammy T. Wysor and husband, William of Greensboro, Tonya T. Shoffner and husband, Edwin of Greenville, SC, Brock W. Thomas of Greensboro; grandchildren, Tristan Phillip Thomas, Devon Thomas Wagoner, Catherine Elizabeth Shoffner, Anna Grace Shoffner, Lilly Caroline Shoffner, Amber Nichole Wysor; great granddaughter, Summer Renee’ Thomas and sister, Betty Carter and husband Wilbert of McLeansville. Also surviving are loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street.
