Anna was a graduate of Ben L. Smith High School, Greensboro, NC where she was president of the Spanish Club, member of the Spanish Honor Society, Dramatics Club, Smith Ensemble and a cheerleader. Her excellence in Spanish earned a nomination to the Governor’s School of North Carolina. Anna attended Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC. She had a long career at United Guaranty Corporation, Greensboro.
Anna developed a love of music and dance at a very young age. She studied and performed in many different types of dance, ultimately performing as a member for the Greensboro Civic Ballet. With her beautiful soprano voice, she brought the Lord’s blessings in song as a member of the church choirs at both Our Lady of Grace and St. Benedict Catholic Churches.
Her courageous enthusiasm and gentle spirit endeared her to others. She could light up any room with her smile. Her love for the Lord shone through not only in her singing but in her affection for family and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mary Lou Harris, her grandparents, and her nephew, Jim Jones. She is survived by her sisters, Marcia (Orton) Jones, Sheila Steele, twin brother Andrew Harris all of Greensboro; sister, Wendy (Ron) Horton of Fort Mill. SC; brother, John (Natalie) Harris of Ponte Vedra, Florida; aunt Polly Frye (Aunt Bobbie); and beloved schnauzer, Sadie Mae.
Also cherishing her memory are her loving nieces, Michelle Phillips and Marla Knowles; nephews, John Jeffrey Harris, Stephen McPherson, Seth Steele, James Harris, Chase Harris, Paul Michael Richardson, and Eric Grolimund; great nieces, Madison McPherson, Brooke Knowles, and Ashley Knowles; and great nephews, Christopher Colbert and Drake Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hanes-Lineberry N Elm Funeral Home at 515 N. Elm St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 4, 2014 at ST. Benedict Catholic Church, 109 W. Smith Street, Greensboro, NC Interment will follow in New Garden Friends Cemetery.
