Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro with burial immediately following in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, located beside the funeral home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Born in Madison, NC on November 12, 1935 to the late Isaac Nowlin and Alice Foddrell, Andrew attended Lambert Baptist Church and later, Cox United Methodist Church. He retired as a supervisor from W.A. Davis Milling Company in High Point after over 40 years of employment. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed farming and took great pride in raising his cows and a vegetable garden what would have fed half the county. In his down time he enjoyed hoping into his beloved Silverado and going hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Andrew J. Nilen, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 ½ years, Betty S. Nilen; daughters, Dawn A. Nilen, Robin L. Nilen (C.J.), and Princess Nilen Brown (A.C.); brother, John Foddrell; sisters, Louise Foddrell, Lorraine Flemming, Elizabeth Moore, Barbara Nowlin, Elaine Nowlin, Garnette Alexander and Mae Johnson; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
