Alice V. Schmidt, 96, of Greensboro, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Whitestone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Monsignor Anthony Marcaccio officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Alice was the last of nine children, daughter of the late Arthur Patrick and Mary Veronica Sutherland. She was a graduate of Newtown High School, Queens, New York.
Alice volunteered with the Red Cross with blood drives during World War II at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. She was Past President, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion of Post 562, Ridgewood, New York and actively involved with Hibernians Society of Greensboro. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Alice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at the beach in Cherry Grove, SC.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her husband, Max R. Schmidt.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Schmidt of Charlotte, Ronald Schmidt (Debra) of Greensboro, Russel Schmidt (Pamela) of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Meredith Paulus, Logan Schmidt, Erin Schmidt, Lauren Self, Max and Rocco Schmidt; great grandchildren, Drew and Jonathan Paulus, Carter, Austin and Sutherland Kay, Mary, Adam and Sutherland Self and sister, Agnes Lang.
