Mr. Aaron James Hester, 84, a resident of Greensboro died Saturday January 7, 2012 at Beacon Place. Mr. Hester was born April 18, 1927 in Forsyth Co., the son of Zeb and Lula Hester. He was the retired co-owner and operator of J&H Vender Supply Company and was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; Aaron was an avid golfer and loved watching baseball and basketball. He loved singing gospel music and sang bass in the Commanders Gospel Quartet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Beroth, Becky Schipper, Thelma Madden, Mary Lois Sawyer and his brothers, Sherman, Richard, Ray and Colin Hester.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Shelton Hester of the home; one daughter, Lisa Hester Spiker and husband Rich of Oak Ridge; three sons, Raymond Grogan and wife Annie of Jacksonville, Fl, Donald Grogan of Asheboro, Stephen Grogan and wife Reverend Jenna Grogan of Tobaccoville; four grandchildren, Ray Grogan, Jared Grogan, Sarah Spiker, Catherine Spiker and two great grandchildren, Cameron and Alyssa Grogan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family has requested that any memorials be made to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405
