Mrs. Brown attended Brittontown Church.
She was born June 17, 1919, in Roane County, Tennessee and was an accomplished artist and an award-winning writer and poet.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and Carl Rainwater of Dandridge, Judy and Terry Brothers of Powell, and Elizabeth Brown of Afton; a son: Gary Brown of Cleveland; son-in-law: Clark Hinkle and wife, Pat Aldridge Hinkle, of Johnson City; grandchildren and spouses: Maria and Lee Price of Chattanooga, Allen and Rachelle Hinkle of Edinburg, Indiana, William Watts, Justin Hirst, Eugena and Jake Johnson, all of Knoxville, James and Lisa Brown of Cleveland; great grandchildren: Leah Price, Zena Price, Jacob Watts, Chloe Hirst, Arabella Hirst, Brach Applegate, USN YN2 Ryan and Cody Brown, Lillie Brown, Christopher Green; great-great grandchildren: Landon, Jayden and Leilani Brown; brother-in-law: Frank (J. T.) Brown of Greeneville; and sisters-in-law: Melba Brown of Greeneville, Charlotte Spears of California.
She was the daughter of the late Oliver and Arminda Spears and was preceded in death by her husband, Allen J. W. Brown; a daughter, Barbara Hinkle; and grandson, USN SM2 Christopher Watts.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8 pm Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roger Dykes and Rev. David Dugger officiating.
Interment will be at 2 pm Thursday in Cross Anchor Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 pm Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Brothers, Carl Rainwater, James Brown, William Watts, Allen Hinkle, and Lee Price.
The family extended a special thanks to her special friends and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
