He was a dairy and beef cattle farmer.
He was a member of the Clear Springs Community. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always willing to listen and lend a hand to friends and neighbors.
He loved the land, the farm, and all of God’s creatures. Tending to his herd and other animals on his farm was a source of great pleasure for him.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the United States Army as First Lieutenant, where he took great pride in defending our nation.
We will miss you Daddy. We love you so much. Isaiah 40:31: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Survivors include his wife: Charlotte Wilhoit Reed; two daughters and a son-in-law: Debbie Reed and Jackie and Kevin Fielden; grandchildren: Jacob Reed Fielden and Derrick Alexander Fielden; sister and brother-in-law: Geraldine and J. R. Southerland; sister-in-law: Bonnie Ruth Reed; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Ken and Barbara Myers; two special nephews: Bobby Reed and Alf Southerland; special niece: Marie Southerland; several other nieces and nephews; his two dogs: Lucy and Luther; and special friends: Wayne and Katherine Jeffers, Frankie Moore, and Jim Hughes.
He was the son of the late Roy and Addie Reed and was preceded in death by three brothers: Marion Reed, Oscar Joe Reed, and Kenneth Eugene Reed; and two nephews: John Mark Reed and Danny Reed.
The family extends a special thanks to his caregivers: Patsy Moulton, Sarah Chalfant, Barbie Jones, Phyllis Todd Mitchell, Lynn Dowling, and the staff of Mountain States Hospice. Their care and compassion greatly comforted him in his time of need.
The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Dixon’s Chapel Church of God, 25 Old Milburnton Road, Limestone, with Pastor Dwayne Steele officiating. Family and friends may meet at 10:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the church.
Interment will follow in Dixon’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Fielden, Jacob Fielden, Derrick Fielden, Frankie Moore, Buster Scott, Jacky Sanders, and Scott Fielden.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Reed, Wayne Jeffers, Johnny Shanks, Brian Beckett, and Sammy Williams
