Mr. Sandidge was born August 24, 1935 in Church Hill, Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force for 23 years earning the rank of Master Sergeant. Along with travelling the world, he was a technical instruction course leader and taught electronics. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he began his career with the United States Post Office before retiring after 21 years.
“Papaw Bill” was loved by all and never met a stranger. He was a very kind and wonderful man and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was an avid dog lover and raised several over the span of many years with each one holding a special place in his heart.
William is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Patricia Ann Sandidge; one brother: Kenneth Sandidge; sons: Jay Sandidge and Tony (Regina) Sandidge; daughters: Dagna Sandidge and Dawn (Jimmy) Hinson; one granddaughter: Callie (Travis) Franklin; two great grandchildren: Zachary and MaKayla Franklin; a special friend: Logan Fillers; and three special companions: Jedi, Brandy, and Patches.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Paul K. and Pearl Sandidge; two sisters: Beatrice Wagner Dean and Reva Christian; and a nephew: Paul Junior Sandidge.
The family wants to express gratitude to Takoma Hospital ICU nurses and staff.
A Celebration of Life will be held for William Samuel Sandidge at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 8, in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Greg Douthat officiating.
