He was employed as a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was the son of the late Clarence and Ida Belle Cogdell.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Allen and Ginnie Cogdell of Sevierville; two grandchildren: Joey Cogdell and Sammy Cogdell; one great grandchild: Jasper Cogdell; one stepson and wife: Stephen and Brittany Lawson; step grandchildren: Christopher Lawson, Cynthia Lawson, Coleton Lawson, Tanner Gross, Journey Gross, Uriajaih Price, Lillian Lawson and Lakoda Lawson; one brother and sister-in-law: Wallace and Beverly Cogdell of Greeneville; three nephews: Paul, Ken and Brian Cogdell; special friend: Mary Kilday; his church family and many other family and friends.
The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Richard Bailey and Rev. David Shelton will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:00 pm Sunday to go in procession to Greenelawn Memory Gardens where the interment will be conducted at 3:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Houser, Joey Cogdell, Paul Cogdell, Ken Cogdell, Brian Cogdell and Christopher Lawson.
The Green County Honor Guard and the TN National Guard Honors Team will conduct a military graveside service.
