William Thomas Brimer, 57, of Chuckey, died of pancreatic cancer Friday night at home, surrounded by loved ones. Bill was a professor at Tusculum College, formerly teaching and coaching wrestling, football, and track at Greeneville High School, Tennessee High School, and Morristown West High School. Bill was also the Minister of Music at Tusculum Baptist Church, where he was a member.
Bill Brimer was preceded in death by his father: Walter Brimer; his mother-in-law: Martha Priester; his brother: John Brimer; and his son: Steven Brimer.
Survivors include his beloved wife: Beth Priester Brimer; his mother: Darlene Brimer; his father-in-law: J. Charles Priester; his children: Sara Brimer Davey (and James), Linda Brimer Barnett (and Donnie), William D. Brimer, and Joel Brimer (and Briana). Siblings: Linda Brimer Foust (and Gordon), Bob Brimer (and Beverly), Richard Brimer (and Beverly), Donna Brimer, and George Brimer. Sister-in-law: Claire Priester; Brother-in-law: Ben Priester (and Adrianne). Other survivors include many beloved nieces and nephews, special cousins, his church family and many friends.
His final days included visits from hundreds of friends, family, wrestlers, former students, and colleagues thanking him for the impact of his humble, yet powerful influence upon their lives. In keeping with his life’s work, among his last words were; “Keep making a difference in people’s lives.”
If you wish to honor Bill’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to either the Greene County Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or to the Tusculum Baptist Church Bill Brimer Memorial Building Fund.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5pm-7:30pm at Tusculum Baptist Church and Tuesday from 3pm – 5:30pm at First Baptist Church.
A memorial service will follow visitation at 5:30pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. David Smith officiating.
