Tony Wayne Johnson

Tony Wayne Johnson, 76, of the Tusculum community, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

He was a merchant, farmer, and he retired from Dohler-Jarvis.

He was of the Baptist faith and a part of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years: Norma Dean Johnson; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and James Strange of Afton and Debbie and Ronnie Waddell of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Brent and Emily Strange, Justin Waddell and Heather Treadway, and Ryan Strange; two great grandchildren: Colt and Avery Strange; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Frances and Cecil Burgner of Greeneville, Barbara Reynolds of Mosheim, and Kathy and Larry Hopson of Greeneville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a very special friend: Freddie Wedding; and a special granddog: “Chico.”

He was the son of the late Maynard and Mary Johnson and was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edward Metcalf and Letha Metcalf Gunter.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Buford Metcalf and Rev. Ken Smith officiating.

Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Harris Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brent Strange, Justin Waddell, Ryan Strange, David Burgner, Daniel Hopson, and Jason Hopson.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Steven Prince, Dr. Mandeep Bakshi, Dr. Leah Rogers, Dr. Natalie Scott, Al Yost, Gary Berry, the staff and nurses of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Bud and Lilly Nelson, Jimmy Lane, and Bobby Combs.
