She was a born-again Christian and attended Hartman's Chapel United Methodist Church when her health permitted.
Sybil was the widow of the late Wilbur “J.R.” Carter and the late Robert P. “Bob” Davis; both of whom she loved dearly. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include: a son: David Carter of Mosheim; a step-daughter: Robin Davis of Greeneville, whom she raised as her own; grandsons: Brett Carter and Brian Carter both of Arizona; Jolie Hassler of Minnesota; Kelly Carter and Brandy Carter of Georgia; Jordan Watts and Gavin Trantham, both of Greeneville; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Sybil was preceded in death by her parents: T.M. and Azalea Calloway Coffey; a son: Randall Carter; a grandson: Greg Carter; and a brother: Dennis Coffey.
The family would like to express gratitude to: Sybil’s church family at Hartman’s Chapel; her long-time physician, Dr. Richard Aasheim; and her caregivers and staff at Life Care Center of Greeneville, Amedisys Hospice and Silver Angels.
The family will have a private burial on Friday.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 11th at Hartman's Chapel United Methodist Church with the memorial service following at 5 p.m. at the church. Rev. Jim Fain and Rev. Matthew Wright will officiate.
