She attended Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and loved her church family.
She was the daughter of the late Otto Jack Painter and Lillie May Painter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jack Taylor Whitson; sisters: Viola Walters, Hazel Seaton, Helen Jennings, and Thelma Darnell; and brothers: Johnny Painter and Warren Painter.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Teddy and Valerie Whitson of Whitesburg, Terry and Krista Whitson of Rogersville; daughter and son-in-law: Linda Whitson Armfield and Robert of North Carolina; five grandchildren: Leanne Crawford, Brad Whitson, Tara Cuthrell, Karma Harkey, and Bo Armfield; seven great grandchildren: Drew Crawford, Hunter Harkey, Ellie Harkey, Shelby Cuthrell, Carter Cuthrell, Bella Whitson, and Bralie Whitson; special niece: Cecilia Hensley and special nephew: Eddie Jennings, both of whom helped her a lot; a close friend and sister-in-law: Billie Gilland; sister-in-law: Nancy Adams; brother-in-law: Clifford Darnell; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-3pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lynn Neas officiating.
Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Drew Crawford, Brad Whitson, Bo Armfield, Eddie Jennings, Danny Gwynne, and Carl Cuthrell.
