As a young hero, Ronnie served his country, in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1972, which included a tour of Vietnam. He also retired from Magnavox/Philips after 25 years of service.
Ronnie was a loving husband, father, brother, Papaw and friend to all who knew him. He would always brighten a room with his contagious smile. Ronnie was well known for his love of golf and his 19 hole in ones.
He is survived by children, Rebecca (BJ Freshour) and Richie (Shyla Prentice) Waddell; grandchildren, Abigail and McKenzie Waddell, and Jayden, Bryce, and Braylen Freshour; brother, Lyndon (Patricia) Waddell; sister, Pat (Larry) Carter; sister in law, Patsy Patterson Waddell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Waddell; parents, Lester and Mary Belle Crum Waddell; and brother, Michael “Mike” Jerome Waddell.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday August 28, 2022 at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral home with interment to follow at Greenelawn Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Services by Greene County Honor Guard and Tennessee National Guard.
Pallbearers will be: Travis Waddell, Tommy Smith, BJ Freshour, Chris McCoy, Cameron Starcher and Aaron Waddell.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to all of Ronnie’s friends, especially his golf buddies.
