He was a dairy farmer.
Roger was born July 17, 1949, in Newport, TN, to Lonnie H. and Mildred (Freshour) Hawk.
He graduated from South Greene High School, Greeneville, TN in 1967 and continued his education at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, graduating in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture.
He deeply enjoyed watching Tennessee Volunteer football, spending time with family, and working long days on his dairy farm. He was a member of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include wife: Kay Hawk; sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Veronica Hawk, Allen and Lindsey Hawk; stepdaughters and their spouses: Tammy and Rufus Ford, Susie and Shaun Ford; stepson: Chandler Parker
sister and brother-in-law: Patty and John Paul Neas III; several grandchildren: Star Hawk, Aiden Hawk, Turner Hawk, Kaycee Ford, Pam Ford, and Jackson Ford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their spouses, including: Jennifer and Kelly Wolfe and John Paul IV and Tanda Neas; and a special aunt: Edna Freshour Harper of Ft. Worth, Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Lee Anne Hawk; and a son: Andrew Jerome Hawk.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The body will remain at the funeral home until time to be taken to the church 30 minutes preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Salem Lutheran Church. Pastor Jack Wilder will officiate.
Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.
His pallbearers will be John Neas IV, Rufus Ford, Shaun Ford, Chandler Parker, Jeffery Smith, and Kelley Wolfe.
Kevin Ayers, Carl Mohler, Dave Neas, John Jobe, and Dr. A.K. Sen and staff will serve as honorary pallbearers.
It is requested that memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church, in care of Jan Ball, 3001 Salem Road, Parrottsville, TN 37843.
