

Mr. Darnell retired from Alltrista after 35 years.
He was a devoted husband for 56 years and a loving Dad and Papaw.
He was a Christian, loved the Lord and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a trustee as long as his health permitted. He was a caring and loving man that loved his family. He lived his life as an example for his family, placing God first.
He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his wife: Omie Darnell, who was his primary caregiver during his illness; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Paul Darnell, Rex and Lisa Darnell, all of Afton; a daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Roger Foshee of Afton;
one grandson: Brantley Darnell; a cousin whom he thought of as a son: Sean Wheeler and wife, Wendi; Addie and Faith, whom he thought of as grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law: Clyde and Marcella Darnell of Wartburg, TN; a sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Kenneth Marshall of Greeneville; two nieces and a nephew; special friends: Dave and Ruth Shelton, Carmalee Darnell; and his special caregiver and friend: Marie Arrowood.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 8 pm Friday, September 6, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Buddy Norton and Rev. Perry Cleek officiating.
Interment will be 11 am Saturday, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:30 am Saturday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dave Shelton, Michael Shelton, Bill Shelton, Richard Shelton, Larry Reaves, Garry Reaves, Sean, Biskey and Lacy Wheeler.
The family extended a special thanks to the staff of 4 West of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, the Respiratory Department, Dr. Joseph Scott and staff, the pharmacy department at the CVS on the 11-E By Pass, Dr. Gupta and staff in Morristown, the staff of Lynn’s Restaurant (Beverly Messer) and Advance Homecare.
