

Doug was an avid gardener who loved to watch his vegetables grow. He loved to watch and keep his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture and houses. Doug was a fisherman who caught and threw them back in the lake.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years: Ida Hinkle of Greeneville; three daughters and their spouses: Bridgette and Joe Swatzell of Chuckey, Pamela Hinkle of Greeneville, Eliza and Dustin Hensley; one son: Andrew Hinkle of Greeneville; three granddaughters: Emily Hinkle, Autumn Hensley and Haley Arwood; four grandsons: Zachary Hinkle, Nathaniel Hinkle, Shawn Hinkle and Dillion Arwood; one brother and his spouse: Jim and Wilma Hinkle of Greeneville; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; special nephew and niece: Richard and Sherri McCoy; special friends: Tim and Ada Park; Hal and Martha Solomon; Duane Durmon; Chris and Stacy Smith; Rex Smith; Norman Smith; David and Teresa Hinkle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special pet: Hambone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Nellie Hinkle and a brother, Dennis Hinkle.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Buster Shelton officiating.
