Naza Mobie Evans Maples, age 91, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 in Greeneville. She was a member of Herald Church of God of Prophecy for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orbin and Myrtle Meade, and her husbands: Avery W. Evans and Robert Maples.
She is survived by a son: Avery W. and his wife Jean Evans of Greeneville; a daughter: Peggy and husband Buck LaFoon of Creedmoor, North Carolina; three sisters: Mammie McReynolds and June McConnell of St. Paul, Virginia, and Carrie Crowder of Afton, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Terry Evans, Tammy Bloom, Pam Bartholomew, and Drema Cullipher; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 1, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 6th Street NW, Coeburn, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gerald Smith and Pastor Curt Bond officiating. Burial and graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.Sunday, January 2, 2011, in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum in Castlewood, Virginia. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. in the Mausoleum for the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sandy Ridge Rescue Squad, P.O. box 550, Nora, VA 24272, or Herald Church of God of Prophecy, 15078 Sandy Ridge Road, St. Paul, VA 24283.
