Nanette Burchett Ricker, 79, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 18, 2022. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She will always be remembered for her smile, her laugh, and her fun-loving spirit.
She grew up as the eldest of ten children on a farm in Jonesville, VA. She graduated from Flatwoods High School, and later from Knoxville Business College. She married J.D. Ricker and moved to his hometown of Greeneville, TN, where she was an active member of the Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry. She also studied accounting at Tusculum College and worked as office manager for the Insul-Therm Co., a local manufacturing business.
In 2004, she moved to Brentwood, TN, to be closer to her grandchildren. She quickly became an active member of Brenthaven Church, where she served as a leader in both the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry and the Young at Heart group.
She is survived by her daughter Dr. Shali Ricker Scott, son-in-law Dr. Frank Scott, and 3 wonderful grandchildren Garrett, James, and Ray Scott, all of Nashville, TN; her mother Betty Burchett of Jonesville, VA; seven siblings-R.L. Burchett (and wife Joy), Kaye Moberg, David Burchett (and wife Patsy), Dr. Bonnie Burchett, Joyce Burchett, Debbie Burchett, and Dianne Lyons (and husband Keith); five wonderful nieces-Marisa Anders, Melissa Johnson, Theresa Hammons, Kim Dohm, and Alyssa Lyons; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband J.D. Ricker; her father Hiram and brother Hiram “Junior” Burchett; her brother and nieces Wayne, Kara, and Rena Burchett; and her brother-in-law Paul Moberg.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Brenthaven Church, 516 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027. Visitation will start at 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Brenthaven Church.
