She was born in Greene County December 3, 1926, the daughter of the late J.C. and Daicie Craddock Dearstone.
She was a graduate of Greeneville High School, attended Virginia Intermont College and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Felton and her husband, Edward M. Felton began their teaching careers at McDonald High School. She taught Science and Home Economics and he taught Agriculture. He preceded her in death in 1960. She continued her
career as a Home Economics teacher at Chuckey-Doak High School from 1964 until her retirement in 1989.
Mrs. Felton was a member of Cedar Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, an Elder, served on many committees and was active in the Sarah Craddock Circle. She was also a member of the Mosheim Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved sewing, gardening, basket weaving and working with stained glass.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and David Hale; one son and daughter-in-law: John and Diane Felton of Durham, NC; four grandchildren: Chris Lloyd and wife, Jennifer, of Morristown, Miles Kilday and wife, Ashley, Lydia Felton and Ryan Felton; two great grandchildren: Austin Lloyd and Emma Lloyd; two special step granddaughters: Lisa Brown and husband, Karl, of Morristown, Pam Branden and husband, Mark, of New Market; special step grandsons: Paul Kilday and Chris Kilday; three step great grandsons: Tyler Brock, Clay Brock and Cole Brown; a step great granddaughter: Olivia Branden.
She enjoyed a loving relationship with each of her step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 8 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Casey Nicholson and Rev. Richard Snowden officiating.
Interment will be 10 am Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
Pallbearers will be John Felton, Ryan Felton, Chris Lloyd, Miles Kilday, Paul Kilday and David Hale.
The family wished to express a special thanks to the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice: Donna Smith, Mitzi Kemp, Paula Morrison, Lisa Wilhoit, Betsy Shelton and Gertrude McGhee.
