

Born January 12, 1928, in Greeneville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Julia Waddell.
Her family states, “She left this world for the peace and wholeness of life with Christ. She was a true Southern Lady, gracious and gentle, and a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a sincere Methodist and proud to be a member of Rehobeth UM Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily and listening to southern gospel music.
She always enjoyed cooking on Sundays for her family. Every Sunday after church, her home on the Asheville Highway was filled with loved ones to eat her famous ‘Sunday Dinner’. She loved Irises and Roses, fine dishware, clothing, and Pralines and Cream ice cream.
She and her late husband of 43 years, Reed, enjoyed and participated in the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband were members of the Greeneville Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and later on started and were Charter members of the Beersheba Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She also, at one time, held a State Grand Office as Martha.”
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Danny and Diane Crum of Afton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Kay and Roger Ford, Cathy and Joe Laughters, all of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Mark Laughters and wife, Lisa, Alan Laughters, Hollie Shelton and husband, Johnathan, of Yokota, Japan; seven great grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, Olivia, Noah, and Taylor Laughters, Kaylah and Alyssa Shelton; a sister and brother-in-law: Barbara and Gordon Lowe of Nashville; a brother and sister-in-law: Don and Patsy Waddell of Greeneville; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Stills and Norma Waddell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Ralph Waddell.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Martha Beamer and Rev. David Dugger will officiate. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, members of Beersheba Lodge and all other Masonic Lodges, and members of the Eastern Star, her caregivers at Signature HealthCARE, the staff of Caris Home Health Care, staff of FMC of Eastern Tennessee (dialysis center).
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
