He was a retired painter for Greene Valley and in his retirement years, he loved working on the farm.
Mr. Hensley was a Protestant by faith.
He was a life member of the Greeneville VFW Post #1990. He served in Vietnam in 1968-1969, receiving four bronze stars.
A quote that was very special to Larry was, “What all Vietnam veterans want is for their country to love them the way they loved their country.”
Survivors include his wife and the love of his life: Linda Ramsey Hensley; son: John Andrew Hensley; special mother-in-law: Bernice Ramsey; two grandchildren: Corey Andrew Hensley and Adara Love Hensley of Greeneville; sister and brother-in-law: Carolyn and Burlin Sauceman of Greeneville; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Jimmie and Rhonda Hensley of Greeneville and Eddie Hensley of Tusculum; former sister-in-law: Debbie Hensley of Greeneville; special friend, whom he considered a sister: Rosetta Wells and her husband, Hugh; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Harry and Louise Redinger of Canton, Ohio, Bobby C. Collins, John, Karen, and Charlie Strange, Elston and Tricia Candileri, Elizabeth Hagood, Parker Johnson, Lori McCracken, and Sadie Smith.
He was the son of the late Jack and Minnie Henry Hensley and was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ernie Ramsey, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Hensley.
The family will receive friends from 10:30am till 1pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 1pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Collins and Rev. Jeff Neikirk officiating.
Interment will be in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. James Milton Robertson VFW Post #5266 will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Jack Johnson, Kyle Payne, Josh Hurley, John Gregory, Jack Neas, Elston Candileri, Ivan Collins, Lowell Collins, and Jay Birdwell.
Honorary pallbearers are VFW members and his Applebee’s kids.
