Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and educator. She was the type of woman that put others before herself. A devoted teachers assistant at Tusculum View Elementary School for 27 years and taught piano lessons for nearly 30 years, passing her love of music for countless children. Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Ider High School Ider, Alabama as well as courses at Walters State.
My mother was an angel who loved her family and prided herself on making a house into a home. You could always find her making homemade ice cream or a simple meal feel like a feast fit for a king. An avid collector of antiques, Junior and Kathy’s home looked like something out of an issue of Country Living magazine. She was a firm believer that Christmas just didn’t happen, you had to make it happen. Let me tell you my childhood Christmases were filled with plenty of Kathy Davis Christmas magic.
After her husband was in a very traumatic tractor trailer accident in 1996, Kathy held her family together as she worked her job at Tusculum View and gave piano lessons to provide for her family. Working countless 15 hour days all while running the household. Looking back, I don’t know how my mother held it all together, but she did. She was the strongest member of our family and the glue that held us together.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, CJ and Ruby Lea of Ider, Alabama and her loving devoted husband of 42 years, William Raymond Davis, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Cody Davis of Greeneville; sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Brenda Ott of Ider, Alabama as well as a special nephew, Jonathtan Ott of Springville, Alabama.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 – 3 and 5 – 7 at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 1 pm, in Oakdale Missionary Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Ross Helton officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at noon on Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Cody Davis, Brian Gray, Gary Moody, Owen Davis, Phillip Waddell and Jonathan Ott.
