Joe W. Ballard

He was retired from Philips, where he worked as a clerk for 45 years.

He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ballard is survived by his wife: Gail Jones Ballard; daughters: JoAnna Ward and Jill Ballard of Greeneville; grandchildren and spouse: Holly Ward of Jonesborough, Michael Surber of Jefferson City, Ryan and Casey Ward, Rachel Surber, and Lauren Miller of Greeneville; sisters-in-law: Betty Ballard of Greeneville, Imogene Ballard of Newport, and Patsy Phillips of Nebraska; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bill and Dinah Jones; and four nieces.

He was a son of the late Hubert Elmo and Lucille Witt Ballard and was preceded in death by two brothers: Neil Ballard and Wayne Ballard; and three grandchildren: Sarah Miller, Hannah Miller, and Katelyn Miller.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Fain officiating. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state for 30 minutes preceding the funeral service. It is requested that family and friends meet at the church for the funeral service.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

His pallbearers are James Easterly, Bill Jones, Billy Conduff, Don Henry, Ryan Ward, and Michael Surber.

Dr. John Shaw, staff of Caris Hospice, friends at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, special friend Kay Broyles, and special caregiver Janet Varney will all serve as honorary pallbearers.
