He retired from Delfasco.
Mr. Shelton attended Peace Free Will Baptist Church.
He loved to fish and spent many hours on the lakes and ponds of Greene and Hamblen counties.
Survivors include his three daughters and two sons-in-law: Denise and Rodney Duck of Mosheim, Diane Davis of Ohio, Tammy and Ben Eskola of White Pine; a son: Jamie Shelton of Rheatown; seven grandchildren: Josh Burnworth, Caria Swift, Chandra Henson, and Alexandria, Christian, Blake, and Drew Eskola; great grandchildren: Eyonah and Adali Henson, Chyanne and Kaidon Burnworth, Corey Swift and Lily Burgner; brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Illumanada Crum of Chuckey, Paul and Dorothy Simms of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his special lifelong friends: Victor Feezell and Margaret Church.
He was the son of the late William David and Alice Mae Shelton and was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Michelle Shelton; a sister, Jo Ann Lawson; four brothers, David E., Donald Lee, Melvin and Teddy Shelton; and his grandparents, Rev. Melvin and Sudie Shelton and Charlie and Nannie Graham.
The family wished to express a special thanks to the staff at the Hospice Care Center, James H. Quillen Veterans Hospital.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace FWB Church, 600 S. Davy Crockett Parkway, Morristown, TN 37813.
Private services will be held at a later date.
