Butch was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Butch lived a great life. He had a successful career that made him well known in his industry as one of the top experts in his field all across the nation. He traveled to all 50 states and 37 countries. He served proudly aboard the destroyer USS Truxtun in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Hicks; four sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Yongmei Hicks, Chris and Jamie Hicks, Ben and Kristen Hicks and Cy Hawk and Nicole; six grandchildren, Rylee, Tyler, Cooper, Clara and Lily Hicks and Taylor Hawk; one great grandson, Jaden Vines; sister, Priscilla Presley; half- sister, Tammy Hicks; and half-brother, Terry Hicks. He also had many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
He was the son of the late Harold T. Hicks, Sr. and Wilma Bailey and was preceded in death by a half-brother, Rick Bailey and a half-sister Debra Bailey and a sister-in-law, Joan Romanowski.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 4 – 7 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 3 pm in GreeneLawn Memory Garden Mausoleum with Pastor Jeremy Arnall officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2 pm to go in procession to the graveside service.
Greene County Honor Guard and U. S. Navy Honor Team will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers are his sons and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary Gridley, Cecil Ellenburg, Ray Adams, Wade Harrison, Al Romanowski, Frank Christian, Larry Self, John Turney and Dr. Robert Mosca.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Mosca and his nurse, Becca for outstanding care that Butch received. Also, a special thank you to Anita Hinkle of Amedisys Hospice for the special care she gave Butch.
