He retired from painting and farming.

Mr. Slagle attended Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Danny Johnson and Brenda and Roy Adams; two sons and daughters-in-law: Raymond and Sandy Slagle and James and Michelle Slagle; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother: Marvin Slagle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years: Mary Slagle; his parents: Robert “R.C.” and Lola Jane Slagle; and a brother: Oval Slagle.

The family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm Wednesday and 11am-1pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Simpson and Rev. Rick Bowser officiating.

Interment will be in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Corey Slagle, Michael Alley, Zack White, Kevin Harrell, Lloyd Smith, and James Robinson.
