She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse.
Mrs. Grubbs was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also a friend to all who knew her.
She was a member of Pleasant Vale Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for 22 years and was a member of the Outreach Ministry.
She is survived by a son: Robert Lynn Grubbs of Chuckey; daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah Grubbs Vaughan and Harold Vaughan of Vinton, Virginia, Pamela Grubbs Schofield and Tim Schofield of Chuckey, and Bertha Grubbs Nunley and Pat Nunley of Jonesborough; six grandchildren: Michael Vaughan and wife Laura, Brandon Vaughan and wife Ashley, Stephen Vaughan, Marcus Schofield, Holly Schofield, Kelly Schofield; four great grandchildren: Braxton Brice, Garett Ricker, Sara Grace Vaughan, John Berkley Vaughan; six brothers and sisters-in-law: Rev. James and Rebecca Bowers, Tom and Patricia Bowers, Rev. Richard and Dessie Bowers, Ralph and Brenda Bowers, and George and Carolyn Bowers, all of Chuckey, and Dr. Bob and Debby Bowers of Columbus, Ohio; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and Fred Lamons, Helen and Bill Davenport, and Nellie and Claude Phillips, all of Chuckey, and Patsy and Arnold Bishop of Athens, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Charlotte and Ray Jones of Greeneville; numerous nieces and nephews; special uncle: Howell Bowers; and special aunt: Helen Forrester.
She was a daughter of the late Denver and Adelee Bowers and was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Grubbs; a sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Marvin Shaw; and her best friend: Delora Franklin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Pleasant Vale Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, with George Bowers serving as the service leader and Harold Vaughan as the Evangelist.
Interment will precede the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20 at Pleasant Vale Cemetery, where Rev. Richard Bowers and Dr. Bob Bowers will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the committal service.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons: Marcus Schofield, Michael Vaughan, Brandon Vaughan, Stephen Vaughan, David Hensley, Eric Fillers, Jamie Lamons, and Howard Collins.
Dr. Thomas Beckner, Dr. Dean Wilson, Dr. Joe Austin, Bloomie Franklin, Heaven Bound Sunday School Class, and the doctors and staff of Pain Management Center in Johnson City will all serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
