He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. George was a lifelong farmer and retired as a CNA at Life Care Center of Greeneville after 40 years.
George is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Bobby) Crum and Beatrice McGowan; two sons, Jeff Gunter and Dewayne McGowan; grandchildren, Dylan Gunter, Amy Wallace and Stanley (Champ) Roberts; as well as great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Faye Gunter and a daughter, Jody Lee Gunter.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm in the Chapel of Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Garritt and Pastor Paul Winchester.
Interment will follow in Price Cemetery at Kelley Gap.
Pallbearers are Dylan Gunter, Stanley (Champ) Roberts, Brent Gray, Chris Wallace, Larry Garritt and Johnnie Shanks.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Steven Prince and the staff on 4 West at Greeneville Community Hospital East. Also to home health nurse and physical therapist Paige Brown and Trish Foshee.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
