Bud (Francis) Kuhn of Greeneville TN and Jacksonville FL passed on June 11, 2022. Bud served in the 9th Division of the U.S. Army and although he traveled the world, he especially enjoyed visiting ancestral locations in Germany. As a fireman and EMT for over 20 years at Mayport Naval Base, Captain Kuhn was a mentor and friend to those he served with. After retiring, Bud served the Greeneville community as the owner of the Greeneville Coal Yard. Bud was known as Pap or Happy to his family. He loved these nicknames. His favorite phrase was “Hey Pap, watcha doing?” and he knew it was more than likely that he was going to repair, design, or start a project for a family member or friend. Pap was a man of many talents: mechanic, carpenter, designer, farmer, cook, and artist. He was a true selfless man, if you needed help and he could provide it, he was there, no questions asked! Pap never met a stranger and due to his many interests, he would engage in conversations spanning various topics which were always humorous and lively.
During the winter storm of 1993, Pap took his 1965 Ford coal truck and rescued people in Greene County who lost power and needed a ride. He pulled cars out of ditches as he continued to deliver coal. Bud lived his life in service to his family, community, and country, and will be sorely missed by so many.
His heartbroken family consists of 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 sons-in-law, as well as dozens of friends who were always considered part of the family.
Graveside services will be held at Andrew Johnson Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10am with full military honors.
Bud was a lifetime advocate for all animals, so in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to your local animal rescue centers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Smokey Mountain Hospice.
Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
