He retired from the Federal Aviation Agency and was a member of Victory Church of God.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Walter and Judy Shelton of Greeneville, Kenneth and Mary Shelton of Rogersville, and Charles and Rosanne Shelton of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren: Marlena and Marshall Thomas of Kingsport, Janice and Ron Paysinger of Greeneville, Donna and John Cooter of Baileyton, Brisco and Tammy Franklin of Montana, Yvonne and Jeff Johns of Waynesboro, Virginia, Lee and Misty Shelton of Ft. Polk, Louisana, Jennifer and Robert Rancich of El Paso, Texas, Jason Shelton of Johnson City, and Joel Angelone of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Delora Stidham of Merritt Island, Florida, Hilda Shelton of Greeneville, and Glenn and Ray Ertzberger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Kelly and Delova Woody Shelton and was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred Shelton; two brothers: Roy and Harvey Shelton; and sisters: Hazel Dillinger, Lois Shelton, and Jessie Shelton.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Dale Shelton officiating.
Interment will follow in Horse Creek Church of God Cemetery.
