Mrs. Ottinger was born September 7, 1921 in Greene County and was the daughter of the late John M. and Della Boles Kiker.
She and her husband established Ottinger Dairy Farms in 1953. She very dedicated to preserving and continuing her family farm and worked diligently as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Ottinger was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Parrottsville, Tennessee. She served on numerous committees and the church council. She was active in the WELCA group at Salem and was also active in the Caney Branch FCE club.
Her family noted that she was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a caring sister, neighbor and friend.
Survivors include her son and dedicated caregiver Johnny C. Ottinger and daughter-in-law Dorothy L. Ottinger; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law: John and Mary Ottinger and Jake and Jennifer Ottinger; four great grandchildren: Riley Ottinger, Reese Ottinger, and Jackson Ottinger, all of Greeneville and Chelsey and her husband Jackson Barnard of Tazewell; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Leona Gammon and Ina Ruth and J.T. Clowers of Greeneville; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Charlsie Hawk and Joan Birdwell of Johnson City and Trent Ottinger of Parrottsville; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge her special caregivers that were a blessing to the family: Susie Wills, Iva Jean Campbell, Rena Witt, and Glenna Foulks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Ottinger and one brother John M. Kiker Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Salem Lutheran Church in Parrottsville with interment in the church cemetery. Reverend Norman L. Deal will officiate. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Teddy Clowers, Martin Kiker, Dallas Ottinger, Allen Ottinger, Charlie Birdwell, and Robert Ottinger.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Salem Lutheran Church and caregivers of Smoky Mountain Hospice and Dr. Candi Overholt, who is also her great niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 3001 Salem Road, Parrottsville, TN 37843.
