Charles Edward Parker, age 91 of the Brown Springs Community stepped into eternity with his Savior and King on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He attended First Church of God as long as his health permitted. Charles is survived by his “beautiful brown-eyed” wife of 72 years, Charlsie Ruth (Reynolds) Parker; daughter, Mitzi Gorman (Husband George) of Knoxville, TN; Grandson, Eric Hinkle (Wife Crystal) of Louisville, TN; Three Grand-daughters, Jill Rosenbalm (Husband, Butch) of Oak Ridge, TN; Angela Peterson (Husband, Jon) of Seymour, TN, and Joy Cole (Husband, Brian) of Knoxville, TN; 12 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Parker Johnson of Greeneville – Carolyn Parker of Knoxville; one brother-in-law, Bill Reynolds of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews. He is celebrating this CHRISTmas with CHRIST and family who have gone before him; his parents, William O. and Dora Mae Parker; Grandson, Michael Scott Hinkle; brothers Ralph, James Howard, Gene, Sam, Verlin and Johnny Carl; Sisters Wanda Burger, Florence Yates and Norma Humbard. Charles worked with his father “W.O. Parker & Sons” starting at age 14 hauling canned milk to Pet Dairy, then moving to tank transport from farms to processors. When his father purchased excavation equipment, he learned to use it. For the last 32 years of his work life, he was employed by Kiser Funeral Home – then Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home prior to his retirement at age 85. Charles was a man who never met a stranger. A Christian who loved his Lord and his family. He always had a story to tell that would brighten your day. His wit and wisdom will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Wednesday with the funeral service following at 7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with George Gorman delivering the eulogy. The interment will be Thursday at 11:00 am in Carter’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Reynolds, John Hartman, Rocky Reynolds, Robbie Reynolds, Eric Hinkle and Parker Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Employees and former employees of Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 am Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
