Charles was a life-long dedicated farmer with a true respect for being a good steward of the land. He had a passion for collecting antique John Deere tractors, attending tractor pulls, and helping anyone in need.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years: Judy Self Campbell; mother: Billie M. Campbell; sister and brother-in-law: Cheri and Ronald Crum, whom he thought of as a brother; mother-in-law: Eva Nell Self; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Terry and Sandy Self; several nieces and nephews; close friends: Dennis Peters and Paul Rohrer; and his beloved faithful companion: Shobha.
He was preceded in death by an infant son: Matthew Campbell; his father: Marion Campbell; a nephew: Travis Crum, whom he loved as a son; grandparents: Nora and Roland Rich, Sr., Mae and Charlie Campbell; father-in-law: Thomas Self; and an uncle: Roland Rich, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery on Snapps Ferry Road with Rev. Mike Garland and Lyle Smith officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
His pallbearers will be Daniel Hayes, Paul Rohrer, Ronnie Winter, Russell Burgner, Jonathan Burgner, Randall Houston, Bobby Campbell, and Buddy Arrington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joseph Austin, the staff of Greeneville Internal Medicine, Dr. Martin Tran, and the nursing staff of the 2300 wing of Johnson City Medical Center.
