He was an employee of Hurd Lock for 30+ years and retired from Huf North America Automotive Parts Manufacturing.
Mr. Wilhoit was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and youth director. He was also a member of the Hardee’s Boy’s Breakfast Club and the unofficial office manager of Charlie’s Barber Shop.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Jean Wilhoit; son and daughter-in-law: Brian and Kristie Wilhoit of Tusculum;
two granddaughters whom he loved dearly: Chelsea and Bree Wilhoit; one sister: Phyllis Johnson of Greeneville;
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: June Fellers and her husband, James; Becky Davis and her husband, Bill; Rex Ricker, Jimmy Ricker, Ralph Ricker, Delores Ricker; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Charlie and Fodell Greene.
He was the son of the late Oscar and Ernesteene Wilhoit and was preceded in death by an infant brother, Murel and a brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Rex Brown officiating. Interment will follow at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Mike Harrell, Anthony Trent, Jeff Shelton, Matt Ricker, Mark Ricker, Chuck Hawk.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Hardee’s Boy’s Breakfast Club, Chad Dalton, Charlie Greene, Dr. Thomas Beckner and
Dr. Dharmen Patel.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
