She was a nurse at Laughlin Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years then worked for Dr. Nathan Horner as a nurse until she retired.
She attended Mt. Olive Red Hill Church.
J.D. and Betty have been married for 64 years. She has fought a courageous battle for 6 years against her illness.
Survivors include her husband: J.D. House; daughters and sons-in-law: Judy Payne and Jimmy Jones, Elizabeth Murray and Tommy Hensley all of Greeneville; son and daughter-in-law: Jay and Debra House of Greeneville; grandchildren: Al Gourley of Johnson City, Chad House of Greeneville, Jesse House of Dallas, TX, Josh Murray of the home, Sam Hensley of Greeneville;
nine great grandchildren; brother: Earnest Vern Bowman of Greeneville; sisters: Imogene Luttrell, Mary Belle Hankal and Reba Bird all of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Charlene Cutshall and Rosetta Wells both of Greeneville.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie Jones and Edgar Earnest Bowman.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday preceding the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Teresa Castleman and Rev. Martha Beamer will officiate.
Interment will follow at 11:00 am Monday, April 9, 2012 in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
His pallbearers will be Al Gourley, Chad House, Josh Murray, Bill Haney, Melvin Harrison, Sam Hensley, Ethan House, and Jesse House.
