He was an employee of Pet Milk Co. for 25 years and retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center after 15 years of service. He also enjoyed farming as long as his health permitted.
Mr. Wilson attended First Church of God.
He was a World War II army veteran, serving from 1942-1944.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Bennie and Alice Wilson; granddaughter and husband: Karla and Billy Crum; great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Amber Austin and Mandy Crum; step grandchildren: Jessie Austin, James Grigsby, and Donna Grigsby; step great grandchildren: Kevin Dotson, Hannah Dotson, Liam Austin, Luke Carase, Emily Carase, Christopher Carase, and Nate Bowman; brother: Willie Wilson; several nieces and nephews; special friend: Matthew Luttrell; and his special friend and caregiver: Fallon (Thumper) Bentley.
He was the son of the late W.C. and Lura Wilson and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Haney Wilson on April 9, 2014; a daughter: Brenda Wilson Montieth; three brothers: Lester, Clyde, and Clarence Wilson; and four sisters: Kate Ward, Geneva Parvin, Helen Ward, and Mont Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation the funeral service will be held at 8pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gerald Rudd and Rev. Lynn Neas officiating.
Interment will follow at 11am Saturday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15am Saturday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Luttrell, Steve Luttrell, Tom Daniels, James Grigsby, Kevin M. Dotson, and Larry Neas.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Bible Venture Class of First Church of God and the nurses and staff of Smokey Mountain Hospice.
