Susan Mary Franz, 73, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle. She was born January 25, 1948 to George Walter and Marion Ruth (Shields) Franz. She was a graduate of Schulte High School and received degrees from both Indiana State University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She retired from Putnam County Hospital Medical Records Department and also worked a number of years for the 4-H Extension program.
Survivors include her sister Donna Smith (Ricky); nieces Aimee Cobb (Cyle) and Molly Fountain (Marc); great-nephews Max and Miles Cobb and Henry and Jack Fountain; great-niece Caroline Fountain; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Jack Raubuch; her sister Nancy Raubuch passed away the day after her.
Susan had a contagious laugh and great smile and sent funny cards to family and friends. She always had a kind word for everyone. She also enjoyed rug hooking and early American crafts and was an animal lover. She was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, September 27 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 202 E. Washington St., Greencastle. Visitation will begin at 10 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, 4 Percy L. Julian Dr., Greencastle. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church.
