Shelly Lynn Sanders

Shelly was born July 18, 1960 in Lubbock, Texas to Morris Merle Welch and Evelyn Holly Melton-Welch. Shelly married John Sanders on January 18, 1991. They were happily married for 33 years. They relocated from New Mexico to be near John’s mother in 2012.

Shelly loved working in the garden growing vegetables. Her sincere heart and compassion as a caregiver, nurse, and mother came natural to her. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; James Welch, Billy Welch, and Bobby Welch and one sister Brenda Bass.

Shelly is survived by her husband John Sanders; her children Lori Sanders, Katherine Glenn, Shelby Hargrove (Adam), Joel Glenn and Ryan Sanders, 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Katelyn, Joseph, Reid, Olivia, Dane, Ryleigh, Sky, Tanner, Jayden, Ava and Charity, 3 great-grandchildren; Mateo, Elena, and Iliyana, her sister Sherry Watkins, brother Gary Welch and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28th at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with services to follow. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
