Born May 11, 1942 in Putnam County, he was the son of Harold and Mary (Goodman) Pettit.
Ron retired from Bridgeport Brass, where he had worked as a machinist. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and a former member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his life partner, Carol; sons, John (wife, Jenni) McGaughey and Larry (wife, Gina) McGaughey; beloved niece Amanda Manley; grandchildren, Johnathan, Josh, Jordi, Josie, and Owen McGaughey; great grandson, Aiden; great nieces and nephew, Justice, Brayle, Alona, and Zaden; brothers, William “Billy” and Richard Pettit; sisters-in-law, Telethia and Frieda Pettit; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David “Butch” and Bobby and sister, Phyllis.
Graveside services were held at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
